Tim Foster, President, Colorado Mesa University (CMU), presented the university's FY 2018-19 capital construction requests. President Foster first provided a status update on a previously funded capital projects, and provided an overview of the Health Sciences Phase II project. He then discussed the Electric Lineworker Building project, and some projects listed on the university's two-year cash list. President Foster also discussed the ribbon cutting for the Engineering Building, and tuition rates at CMU. President Foster responded to questions regarding the relationship between the CMU hotel cash project and certain hospitality-related majors, and the use of student fees to pay for the student housing cash project. Committee members received a copy of President Foster's presentation (Attachment B) and the CMU Two-Year Projection of Cash Need list (Attachment C).

Discussion continued regarding the CMU cash-funded hotel project.

President Foster responded to questions regarding the types of student majors and employees that will be involved in operating the CMU hotel should it be built, and the status of the university's engineering program. The chair laid over the university's two-year cash list. Discussion returned to the CMU student housing cash project. Ms. Donaldson clarified the funding source for the hotel project.

Mr. Friedberg returned to make clarifying remarks about controlled maintenance need in light of FY 2017-18 spending on controlled maintenance through Senate Bill 17-267. Discussion ensued on this issue.
