Peace Officer Questions During Traffic Stop

Concerning measures related to prohibiting a peace officer from asking a person during a traffic stop if the person knows the reason for the traffic stop.

Bill Summary

The bill prohibits a peace officer from asking a driver or passenger if they know the reason for the traffic stop, and requires the peace officer to inform the driver of the reason for the traffic stop unless it is unreasonable under the totality of the circumstances.

A peace officer's failure to comply with the bill is not grounds for exclusion of evidence or dismissal of a charge.
