Senator Priola, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 18-1107. When an individual is under contract to purchase a residence under construction, this bill requires that the home builder offer the buyer the opportunity to have the residence's electrical system include one of the following:
- an electric vehicle charging system;
- upgrades of wiring to accommodate the future installation of such a system; or
- a constructed chase or conduit to ease the future installation of such a system.
The home builder may subject these optional upgrades to the same terms and conditions the builder would offer for any other upgrade in the purchase contract.
