Representative Williams, sponsor, presented House Bill 20-1188, concerning persons who have illegally reentered the United States.  Under current law, state and local law enforcement officers are prohibited from arresting or detaining an individual on the basis of a civil immigration detainer request.  The bill creates an  exception in cases where the individual was previously ordered deported or removed from the United States, convicted of improper entry or reentry to the United States, or convicted of a felony in the state.
