Senator Jaquez Lewis, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 22-1157, which requires the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to collect voluntarily provided public health information concerning race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity (demographic elements), as allowed under applicable state and federal data privacy laws, rules, regulations, and federal contracts. The CDPHE must establish a process for the collection and use of this data, as well as provide technical assistance to reporting entities.
