sponsors, Representatives Armagost and Bird, introduced House Bill 25-1087
to the House Health and Human Services Committee. The bill prohibits the
disclosure of confidential information shared during a peer support interaction,
with certain exemptions, by a peer support team member. As it relates to
the exemptions, peer support team members are not liable for damages in
civil actions based on whether or not they disclose information. The bill
also clarifies that certain mental health professionals may disclose confidential
information if a client makes a threat that, if carried out, would result
in harm to an individual.
