Representative Cutter, sponsor, presented House Bill 19-1110, concerning media literacy. The bill creates a nine-member Medial Literacy Advisory Committee in the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and sets conditions for the committee's appointments and composition. The panel responded to questions from the committee regarding student engagement in media literacy and whether media literacy is incorporated in current standards.

Sandy Nance, Colorado Press Women, testified in support of the bill and distributed a list of misinormation websites from Punditfact (Attachment D).

Jill Farschman, Colorado Press Association, testified in support of the bill.

Adam Dawkins, Colorado Student Media Association, testified in support of the bill.

The panel responded to questions from the committee.

Representative Cutter discussed Amendment L.005 and Amendment L.004. Representative Cutter responded to questions from the committee regarding the amendments.

Representative Cutter moved Amendment L.005 to the bill, but later withdrew her motion.

Representative McLachlan announced that House Bill 19-1110 would be laid over, unamended, until Thursday, February 7, for action.
