Majority Leader Fenberg and Senator Moreno, bill sponsors, presented Senate Bill 21-256. The bill permits a local government to enact an ordinance, regulation, or other law governing the sale, purchase, transfer, or possession of a firearm, ammunition, or firearm component or accessory as long as it is not less restrictive than state laws. In addition, it allows local governments, including a special district or governing board of an institution of higher education to regulate the carrying of concealed handguns in their jurisdiction.
