Representative Garcia,
prime bill sponsor, presented Senate Bill 24-084, concerning a requirement
that the Attorney General coordinate with the Department of Education in
an effort to prevent the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation
by sharing resources to encourage respectful discourse. The bill requires
the Attorney General to prevent and combat the sharing and spreading of
misinformation through:
- establishing an initiative to encourage respectful discourse;
- development of a curriculum for public use to produce conversations to
help people find common ground; and
- collaboration with state organizations to update and share curriculum
materials.
