The committee was called to order. A quorum was present. Representatives Pugliese and Brown, prime sponsors, presented House Bill 24-1472, concerning matters related to certain tort actions, and, in connection therewith, increasing the cap on noneconomic damages, allowing siblings to bring a wrongful death action in certain circumstances, increasing a wrongful death damages cap, increasing the medical malpractice wrongful death damages cap, and increasing the medical malpractice noneconomic damages cap. Representative Pugliese provided introductory remarks on the bill. Representative Brown provided further information on the effect of the bill and the need for it.

Ms. Jones Dulin responded to questions regarding the inflation factor for the damage caps contained in the bill, and when the caps take effect.
