Deidre Johnson, CEO
of the Center for African American Health (CAA), presented on the challenges
facing Colorado's African American community during the COVID-19 pandemic
and how CAA has served the community. Deidre's presentation focused on
health education and equity and inclusion. physical health, aging adults,
family strengthening, behavioral and mental health and community engagement
programs. CAA offers culturally competent mental health services that have
seen a 90+ completion percentage. During the pandemic they shared PPE,
rental, energy and food assistance with communities of color. They've offered
vaccination clinics and testing sites. CAA has started BeHeard Colorado
that distributes and collects survey responses related to health concerns
among the Black community.






The effective date for bills enacted without a safety clause is August 6, 2025, if the General Assembly adjourns sine die on May 7, 2025 (unless otherwise specified). Details
