Update on Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs) - Committee Discussion Only

Senator Hill invited the next group of
presenters to come to the table.  Margaret Bloomer from Ellicott School
District 22, came to the table and distributed a handout to the committee
[Attachment A].  She spoke about Individual Career and Academic Plans
(ICAPs) and some of the pre-collegiate programs taking place in her school
district.  She discussed the importance of academic planning from
middle school through high school, as well as enrichment and extracurricular
engagement.

Anjela Schwab, Counseling Coordinator for Adams 12 Five Star Schools, began her portion of the presentation.  She provided background information about her school district, and spoke about counselor standards and responsibilities as well as ICAP implementation.  Ms. Schwab spoke about a database tool meant to assist school counselors with pulling and utilizing data.
