Representative Pettersen, chair, welcomed the committee and audience. She introduced Lee Posey, Federal Affairs Counsel for the Education Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and Michelle Exstrom, also representing NCSL. Ms. Posey distributed a presentation to the committee (Attachment A) and described the provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act, recently passed by Congress. She responded to questions from the committee. Ms. Exstrom spoke about certain provisions of the new law.
