Representative Becker and Representative Singer, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 16-1079 to the committee. The bill directs the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) to promulgate rules to enable customers to identify retail and medical marijuana and industrial hemp that have been cultivated and processed without the use of pesticides. The CDA will certify third parties that can determine whether the marijuana or hemp that is cultivated is free of pesticides. The bill allows marijuana product labels to include a standardized notification that marijuana has been certified as pesticide-free.
