Ed DeCecco, Director of the Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS), and Ben FitzSimons, Director of the Office of Legislative Workplace Relations (OLWR), presented the first agenda item. This item was added to the committee's agenda at the request of the Speaker of the House, Representative Julie McCluskie, who requested the COLS to provide its recommendation on this subject to the Executive Committee. Director FitzSimons outlined the current policy and process. Director DeCecco raised issues for the committee to consider.

Gardner, Sentor Gonzales, and Representative Soper discussed the policy
and process with Director DeCecco (OLLS) and Director FitzSimons (OLWR).
The committee decided not to make a final decision and to continue considering
the issue further at future meetings.



Draft Social Media Guidelines for Legislators after Lindke v. Freed - Committee Discussion Only

(OLLS) and Jed Franklin, Staff Attorney (OLLS), presented the new draft
Social Media Guidelines to the committee.

Chair Weissmaan,
Vice-chair Gardner, Senator Gonzales, and Representative Soper discussed
the new guidelines. The committee decided the new guidelines should be
sent out to the members as soon as possible after it was finalized by the
OLLS.

Director DeCecco
(OLLS) updated the committee on the email he sent on Monday that contained
a poll for the committee members to vote to retain counsel on behalf of
Legislative Council related to a Blue Book lawsuit. The court granted the
OLLS's motion to dismiss on Wednesday.

Vice-chair Gardner discussed upcoming Rule Review issues with Director DeCecco of OLLS.

Director DeCecco
(OLLS) announced that Jennifer Gilroy, the current Revisor of Statutes
(OLLS), will retire after 32 on October 15, 2024. The new Revisor of Statutes
(OLLS) appointed by the OLLS Director will be Yelana Love, Senior Attorney
(OLLS).
