Senator Hill called the meeting to order. Senator Priola presented Senate Bill 17-200 which concerns raising academic excellence in public schools by distributing up to one percent of public school funding based on a competitive determination of academic excellence among peer school districts. Senator Priola explained several provisions of the bill.
The following people testified:
12:13 PM -- Luke Ragland, representing Ready Colorado, testified in support of the bill. He stated that Van Scholes, Chief Executive Officer of A+ Colorado, also supports the bill.
12:16 PM -- Matt Cook, representing the Colorado Association of School Boards and the Colorado Association of School Executives, testified in opposition to the bill.
12:18 PM -- Amie Baca-Oehlert, representing the Colorado Education Association, testified in opposition to the bill. Ms. Baca-Oehlert responded to questions from the committee.

The committee discussed the bill. Senator Priola answered questions from the committee.

There were no more witnesses and Senator Hill closed public testimony. Senator Hill laid the bill over for action only until Thursday, March 9.
