01:50 PM -- Confirmation of Colorado Commission on Higher Education
Senator Hill, chair, called the meeting to order. He asked Kim Reed, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, to come to the table and introduce the appointees and reappointees to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (commission): Mary Beth Buescher, Cassandra Gannett, Thomas McGimpsey, and Luis Colon. Copies of the Governor's appointment letters and the appointees' applications and resumes were distributed to the committee (Attachment A). Ms. Buescher introduced herself and spoke about her background and about why she would like to be appointed to the commission. Ms. Gannett introduced herself and spoke about her background in education and about why she would like to be appointed to the commission. Mr. McGimpsey and Mr. Colon both talked about why they would like to be reappointed to the commission. The appointees and reappointees to the commission answered questions from the committee.

Mark Heller came to the table and introduced the reappointees to the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority Board of Directors (CECFA): Margaret Henry and Claudia Crowell. Lorna Candler, Director of the Division on Private Occupational Schools, came to the table to introduce the appointees to the Private Occupational School Board: Robert Martin and Ryan Minic. Copies of the Governor's appointment letters and the appointees' applications and resumes were distributed to the committee (Attachment D). Mr. Martin introduced himself, spoke about his professional background, and about why he would like to be appointed to the board. Mr. Minic told the committee why he would like to be appointed to the board.
