Senator Hill invited those present from the Private Occupational School Board to come to the table.  Lorna Candler, Director of the Division of Private Occupational Schools, came to the table to introduce the appointee to the board, Timothy Guerrero.

Mr. Guerrero introduced himself to the committee.  A copy of the Governor's appointment letter can be found as Attachment A.  Mr. Guerrero answered questions from the committee.

Senator Hill invited the appointees to the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education to come to the table.  Dr. Nancy McCallin, President of the Colorado Community College System, came to the table to introduce two appointees to the board, Maria-Vittoria Carminati and Daniel Villanueva.  A copy of the Governor's appointment letter can be found as Attachment B.

Ms. Carminati introduced herself and spoke about her personal, educational, and professional background, and about why she would like to serve on the board. Mr. Villanueva introduced himself and spoke about his background and about why he would like to be appointed to the board. The appointees answered questions from the committee.

Dr. McCallin answered questions from the committee.

Senator Priola took over as committee chair.  Senator Hill, sponsor, presented House Bill 18-1379 which concerns the financing of public schools.  He explained several provisions of the bill.

Matt Cook, representing the Colorado Association of School Boards, spoke in support of the bill.  He answered questions from the committee.  Committee discussion ensued.

Amie Baca-Oehlert, representing the Colorado Education Association, spoke in support of the bill. Ms. Baca-Oehlert answered questions from the committee.

The committee came back to order. Senator Todd, co-sponsor, presented House Bill 18-1266 which concerns expanding the Career Development Success Pilot Program.

Kelly Caufield, representing Colorado Succeeds, spoke in support of the bill. Ms. Caufield answered questions from the committee.

Senator Crowder, co-sponsor, presented Senate Bill 18-215 which concerns additional funding for rural schools for the 2018-19 budget year.  He asked the committee to postpone the bill indefinitely.
