Senator Crowder, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 17-1342. Under current law, a county can propose a county public safety improvement tax by passing a resolution to submit a ballot question to the voters at the next general election. General elections are held in even-numbered years. This bill authorizes a county to propose such a ballot question at a biennial county election, or an election held in November of an odd-numbered year.
