Senator Tate introduced Senate Bill 20-021.
 The bill expands certain requirements that must be included in new
state tax expenditure bills or legislation extending an expiring tax expenditure.
 He responded to questions from the committee.

Senator Tate introduced Senate Bill 20-019. The bill creates the Legislative Oversight Committee Concerning Tax Policy and an associated Task Force Concerning Tax Policy. Senator Tate discussed potential amendments to the bill. Senator Tate responded to questions from the committee.

SB20-050 - Postponed Indefinitely

Senator Woodward introduced Senate Bill
20-050.  The bill creates a state income tax credit of up to $500
for eligible educators that incur certain out-of-pocket expenses.  Senator
Woodward discussed legal issues related to the introduction of revenue-raising
bills in the Senate.

Amber Egbert, Colorado Department of Revenue, responded to questions from the committee regarding the bill's fiscal note and efforts of the department to prevent fraud with regard to refundable tax credits.

Senator Gonzales commented on the bill and a similar bill introduced in the House. The committee discussed the issues related to introducing revenue raising bills in the Senate. Committee members commented on the bill.
