10:05 AM -- SB17-213

Senators Hill and Moreno, co-sponsors, presented Senate Bill 17-213. The bill declares the regulation of automated driving systems a matter of statewide concern. As such, as long as these vehicles comply with state and federal laws, they may not be regulated by local authorities. Under the bill, the testing of vehicles not yet capable of complying with state and federal laws is required to be coordinated by the Colorado State Patrol in the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Amendment L.001 (Attachment B) was distributed to the committee.
